The generally mild-mannered Sen. Jeff Merkley getting fired up about House GOP's proposed budget cuts. I think this argument could gain serious traction with the public if Dems could actually present it in a unified manner. This will obviously never happen because moderate Dems from red states won't go along with it. I also can't see Obama getting behind this even though it's probably far more effective than standing on the sidelines and repeatedly mentioning "Winning the Future."
