Seems a little over the top to me especially with hybrids and electric cars starting to take up more of the car market. But atleast somebody is doing something meaningful about climate change.

This will do wonders for the economy
They do have older, more crowded cities, and less suburbs so I don't think it would have the same economic effect as it would here where most people rely on cars for day to day transport. Their public transportation is also more extensive, better funded, and easier to use, not to mention the fact that they have 40 years to make this transition. Many Italian towns and cities already don't have very much auto traffic (Rome, Florence, Cinque Terre).
True, still I would be pretty heated if I was a European.

Did anyone read the article? The proposal is to eliminate petrol cars, not all cars.

I would love to see the 6 person bike that my mom could use to take all my little brothers to school or the grocery store.
