What do you think should should be done? I am always in favor of more money for education, but I do not necessarily support teacher's unions. I recognize the hard work that they do and that their jobs have more of an impact on society than virtually any other job. With that said, I feel like there are many teacher's unions who force principles to hold on to teachers who are simply incompetent. I read an article the other day about a teacher's union that forced a school to hire a teacher the school had previously fired because she went AWOL for a month and told her class to "go to hell." Why should someone like that be a teacher? Teachers have extremely important jobs, it is time we hold them to a higher standard. If a teacher cannot teach, no union or institution or person should stand in the way of replacing that teacher.
