It will be very interesting to see how this turns out. So many Americans were infuriated by the Patriot Act, but now that Obama wishes to extend many of its provisions (with some changes of course) many may change thier view? I personally think fighting terrorism using technology and allowing the FBI to invade our privacy to a certain extent is helpful although uncomfortable. However, I'd favor some tightening of these rules to prohibit some of the provisions that don't seem to be helpful and/or the FBI has been proven to misuse. I'd be interested to hear what other people think on this as I'm not entirely decided in how far into our private personal lives the government should be able to go?
