What do you bet some Democrats have considered retiring, but have decided against it due to pressure from within the party, the opportunity of having a Democrat in the Presidency, and the fear of leaving thier seat open for republican conquest? If I were in charge or working for the DCCC or any Democratic campaign committee / or the party itself I'd be out there encouraging everyone to stick it out at least until 2012 too. Also, sine a lot of seats normally occupied by the GOP went to Democrats in 2008, I'd think those Democrats occupying those seats would be keen on keeping that seat not only themselves but within the party. If the Democrats fail to get anything of importance through Congress with thier majorities, they'll face losing a lot of those seats anyway -- leaving them open without an incumbant advantage would be downright stupid.
