Haha, well quoted. I'm not actually defending him, but I just thought it was interesting to bring up the point of Presidential accountability in front of the Congress. Obama was basically representing one idea and one party last night without allowing any sort of rebuttal. I know it was not a debate and that's not how the American system works but it is still interesting to think about what would happen if the Congress directly checked the President.
I just really needed to point out a place where Lachlan and I are in agreement.
But anyway, yeah, Britain is a lot more fun than our system. But Joe Wilson isn't an MP and we aren't in Britain. And so it comes off as disrespectful and childish.
(Note that even in Britain, what Wilson did would earn criticism--as this author notes.)
