Don't worry- I'm not just picking on poor Michele. If Obama made a gaffe this hilarious, I'd post it. Don't these campaigns have staffers doing fact-checks? There's a big difference between Marion Morrison and the Killer Clown. Shouldn't Michele, who cried as a girl when her parents took her away from Iowa (allegedly), know this? Maybe Sarah could loan Bristol Palin and her Google search skills to the Bachmann campaign. It seems like they could use them.

My favorite is POTUS prescribing a breathalizer for a child with asthma.
Just glad no one recorded my 33 years of gaffes.
you guys are brutal to her! it was not a gaffe, she knows she was comparing herself to the murderer. She was just implying that she is going to have the mentality of a primal beast and slaughter the rest of the GOP field with her bare hands! How did you guys miss that?
According to James Taranto:
"The guys at New York magazine think they've caught Rep. Michele Bachmann "saying something unintentionally hilarious":
On Sunday before her announcement in Waterloo, Iowa, earlier today, Bachmann said, "What I want them to know is that, just like John Wayne is from Waterloo, Iowa, that's the kind of spirit that I have too." As the Washington Times pointed out, movie star John Wayne was born in Iowa--but Winterset, Iowa, which is about 140 miles from Waterloo. There was, however, a famous John Wayne who used to live in Waterloo. His name was John Wayne Gacy, and he was a terrifying clown who raped and murdered 33 young men in the seventies, which is about as far from "heroic cowboy" as you can get.
It turns out it's a bit more complicated than that. ABC News notes that John Wayne's parents lived in Waterloo for a time before he was born, and the Associated Press reports that Gacy was born not in Iowa but in Barack Obama's adopted hometown of Chicago.
Of course, never having seen Gacy's birth certificate, we're expected to take the AP's word for it. But what if it turns out he was actually born in Kenya? Then he wouldn't even be a natural-born killer."
