I don't think entitlements are the sole cause of these riots. The country's economic downturn probably has more to do with it. I don't know if you differentiate between entitlements and programs but I think if you have a growing and sustainable economy, you should be able to provide certain services to your citizens.

I agree, but the problem is that it becomes near impossible to take anything away. People forget how fragile governments really are.

I don't understand what you mean by governments being fragile. Ours has been around since 1787. Some governments are fragile but I don't think that is how I would characterize our current system of governance.

I have a tremendous amount of faith in the American system, but I think it is dangerous to get complacent. Our debt is nearly the as large as GDP, there are quite a few people in the middle east who hate us, we have a bunch of politicians who are short sighted and can't get anything done, and if climate change alarmists are right about the direness of the situation we have big problems. History shows that civilizations collapse- often unexpectedly. I sound like an alarmist and I'm really not. I don't think the U.S. is going anywhere for a while. I just think people need to realize that sacrifices need to be made for the future of our country. Complacency is dangerous.
