Obama calls A-Rod steroid admission 'depressing'

I agree that with the shocking news that A-Rod had taken steriods, that we can no longer trust the home run era that coincided with the introduction of steriods. However, it is important to look at baseball for what it is and what was punishable under the agreement made between the union and the league. A-Rod's ESPN interview yesterday highlighted what many people had suspected all along, that baseball accepted the culture of juicing up as a means to put people in the stands and garner huge paychecks. The thing we can take from this is that admitting to a mistake is probably the best route any future player or lawmaker can do. Unlike Bonds or even former President Clinton, denial can only go so far and when the evidence is made public, it is best to begin the healing process as soon as possible. As President Obama stated, it will be very important for baseball and all sports for that matter, to continue to rid itself of drug related problems and serve as role models for our youth.
