Mitt Romney on losing Michigan: "It won't happen"
Is this newfound bravado a true sign of confidence of simply an attempt to strengthen his base? Only time will tell.

Really interesting. This is not the conservative strategy Romney has been using thus far, and because it's not, I'm pretty sure it's a panic move. Romney doesn't take risks in elections. If he wins, he ruins Santorum's momentum. If he loses, he's toast. This isn't one of those "oh, we aren't going to do that well" tricks that candidates use to catapult themselves "unexpectedly".
It's the first sign he's nervous.
