U.S. Postal Service again raising price of stamps
The price of mailing a letter will increase later this year up two cents for each piece of mail. The article taught me a few lessons about how the post office operates. I can understand that the price of stamps should go up with inflation, but what I didn't realize was how much the Postal Service loses each year. I was under the impression that it close to breaking even each year, but I discovered that it loses $2.8 billion a year. I think this is a service that is worthy of taxpayer assistance because people are able to communicate regardless of their technological expertise. Writing and sending letters may not seem ideal for many people now that the use of email has transformed the communciation process, but the post office still carries invaluable weight across the world.

Fun Fact: Even though improvements in technology, such as e-mail, skype, and instant message all increase today's communication, proper etiquette (such as Emily Post's rules) still require written notes, thank you cards, invitations, etc. to be sent for different social situations.
