Steele Makes History, but Can the New Party Chief Remake the GOP?

I am interested in seeing how Steele will try to transition the GOP into the next midterm and presidential elections. It seems as though he is going to try and eliminate some of the country-club atmosphere surrounding many Republicans and institute a more diverse definition of a what it means to be a Republican. I have heard that he is in favor of affirmative action and that he is not too enthralled with former President Bush's education policies. I wonder whether he will be able to garner enough support among his Republican party members to alter the approach for the next election.
