Decked Cards: Emotional swing in final quarter leaves mark on 'Zona

In what turned out to be the greatest Super Bowl that I have ever seen, my hopes for the elusive championship haunting the Cardinals since the early 1940s came to what can only be described as complete shock and disappointment. For the first time in my life, I was proud to be an Arizona Cardinals fan and they proved to me that they deserved all my admiration over the previous 20+ seasons in the Valley of the Sun. Once James Harrison took the ball to the house at the end of the first half, I thought the game was pretty much over. To my surprise, the Cardinals put together one of the greatest offensive performances of my lifetime on the best defense in the league. Kurt Warner kept slinging the ball down the field without any hesitation putting his receivers in position to run after the catch. And Larry Fitzgerald turned into the Budweiser horse from the commercial, running for his dear life with minutes left in the game. I know the players left all they had on the field and I can definitely respect them for that. It took the perfect pass and the perfect catch for them to lose. In what should have been the second coming of the Luis Gonzalez game winning bloop single against the New York Yankees to win the 2001 World Series, the Super Bowl turned into the John Paxon three point dagger in Game Six of the 1993 NBA Finals to end the Phoenix Suns magical run to the top. The adrenaline pumping through my body during the forth quarter was more than I could have ever asked for from the Cardinals and even though I barely got any sleep during the night, it will definitely go down as one of the greatest days of Cardinals history and I am definitely glad that I was able to experience it with them on this glorious day for football.

Brandon, Cardinals played well in agonizing defeat. I commend you for your gentlemanly passion. You're much more temperate than some Giants fans I know.

Thanks for your kind words. I had a blast watching the game with you and my classmates and even though my team lost, I know that with Fitzgerald around we will be around for a long time to come.
