Cannabis worth £1m seized at port

What would happen if we legalized drugs like these and heavily taxed them? Would we still have large numbers of drug cartels in operation?

legalizing pot seems like something logical but the government is always incredibly wary of granting new rights to citizens. mostly because once a citizen gets a new right it becomes nearly impossible to take it away without an enormous fight. doubt we will see it legalized.

(i am aware that was a three sentence take on an issue that has been fought over for years and years [even in the supreme court])
