As Kye posted down below, rising above partisanship isn't as easy as one, two, three. This article talks about the historically elusive bipartisan dream - bipartisanship has never truly existed!
The author of this article wisely encourages President Obama and Congress to abandon their wild goose chase. After all, "kind words and good intentions cannot build a bridge between competing political philosophies." As I've said before, there is nothing wrong with having politicians stand for different things. In fact, this is why there are elections - to provide an opportunity for competing ideas to battle it out to see which stances the public favors.
So what should our government do, then? Another wise nugget from the author advises President Obama and Congress to, “pay less attention to the other party and spend more time — much more — persuading America to embrace what you believe.” Hear, Hear!
