In a polarizing decision, Governor Patterson of New York chose Rep. Kirsten Gillibrand to replace Hillary Clinton. This comes within 24 hours of what is widely being viewed as a troubling leak regarding Caroline Kennedy and the status of her bid (which she recently took herself out of the running for). This pick should be interesting as Gillibrand comes from Upstate and was able to win 65% of the vote in her recent race which she wasn't supposed to win, while at the same time having less money in the coffers. Although it will be interesting if she will be able to withstand a general election at the end of the term and if this will have a negative impact on Patterson'
s own upcoming election.
