Proof Israel's Offensive Failed
Israel justified its use of disproportionate military action in Gaza by claiming it was seeking to halt rocket and mortar attacks on its people. After weeks of violence, Israel agreed to a cease-fire claiming it had met is goals. Now, weeks into the cease-fire, more rockets and mortars have been fired into Israeli towns. Israel's offensive did nothing to halt the rocket problem it faces, and in fact probably only made it worse by galvanizing support for Hamas. I remain convinced that the offensive was nothing more than a ploy by those in power seeking victory in the February elections. This is a shame because the long-term security of Israel was threatened, not secured by this offensive.
