Obama to promote stimulus plan in Denver, Phoenix

I do not understand why President Obama is heading to Phoenix to tout his stimulus plan. Living in the area, this move looks like an appeal to his loyal supporters and to try and address the housing problems in the area. More than anything, Phoenix has been hurt by the housing bubble that has now caused the population growth rate to decrease significantly. Arizona is a Republican state that does not appear to be in line with the objectives of the stimulus proposal and for President Obama to think that he will be able to convert people into his corner is highly optimistic.
