Newsweek to Overhaul Their Format

It appears that Newsweek is going to change their format and head toward the opinion-based style of magazines like The Atlantic and The Economist. The magazine is losing its perhipheral readers but maintaining a strong base group of elite intellectuals in a high-income bracket. Newsweek has lost a great deal of money trying to cover conventional news stories and its parent company, The Washington Post, believes that the magazine should focus on their strong base. This will most likely include a cover facelift, a higher subscription price, and more articles from distinguished columnists like Fareed Zakaria.

Though I think this is a good idea, I am troubled that the 'average' American is dropping out of subscriptions for a magazine like Newsweek (and subscription sales have little to do with the economy as they've been slowly dwindling since 05)
