Iran’s China Option

Yesterday I posted about the candidacy of Khatami for President of Iran. This article outlines how the United States could influence such an important election. Mr. Cohen, in his op-ed, argues that by taking a moderate stance towards the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the United States would disarm President Ahmadinejad of his campaign slogan, and focus the Iranian election on the economy and other problem areas in the country. In my opinion, if temporarily angering the Israelis is the price we pay for a regime change in Iran, than it is worth it.
