How Maine's GOP Senators Are Key to Obama's Agenda
President Obama may be able to get many of his policies passed if he is able to generate just a little support from Republicans. In the case of the stimulus bill, he was able to attract two of the more moderate Senators from Maine to get the measure passed. I think he would be well served to be more partisan in his approach to policy agenda in the future because as evidenced with this major piece of legislation, the Republican Party is not real interested in going against what they feel is right, and nor should they be if that is the case. Considering that Maine's Republican Senators are not as committed to the party as some of their colleagues, it may be best to develop a working relationship with them as VP Joe Biden did back in December.
