GOP governors consider turning down stimulus money
Politics before constituents? I found it interesting that some governors would consider not accepting money from the stimulus package due to their fundamental beliefs that the stimulus package is not going to aid the economy. With many states failing to meet their budgets, this money could come in handy, but after reading the reasons why the governors of GOP states such as Louisiana, South Carolina, and Alaska would denounce such aid, I can see where they see potential gains by rejecting the money. Even if the governors decide not to accept the money, they can be overridden by the state legislature, which most likely would happen, thereby increasing devotion to the party, while still ensuring that money gets into the state.
