Gibbs says Obama still reaching out to GOP
Although President Obama does want to appear bipartisan in his approach to ensure that if anything goes wrong, he cannot be fully blamed along with the Democratic Party, I would much rather see him use his time to enact his own policy agenda. I do not foresee the Democratic Party maintaining such high control of Congress come 2012 and so the President has a short period of time in which he can get what he wants accomplished. With the long list of priorities he has set, he had better get started on them right away. Republican support is good to have, but at this point, President Obama should be more worried about getting through what he and the Democratic Party consider good legislation. If they can't get it right, then we will vote accordingly in future elections and this would present a great way to see if Congress needs to be altered.
