Children's Health Insurance Bill
Obama signed the bill that extends health insurance to millions of low-income children who cannot afford private insurance but do not fall under Medicare into law. Interestingly, this bill will also allow states to extend health care to certain legal immigrants, such as children under 21 and pregnant women, and eliminating the former 5-year waiting period. While this is certainly one step towards Obama's promise to fix America's health care, partisan wars are already beginning to brew as Democrats push for further reform and Republicans warn of the start of socialized medicine. At least some Republicans (40) voted for the bill in the House!
