Burris downplayed news when telling Senate leaders

Roland Burris seems to be in a lot of trouble for his recent revelations in the affidavit he sent to the Illinois legislature. I think it was very sneaky of him to downplay the significance of what he said in it when he discussed the topic with Senators Harry Reid and Dick Durbin while they were on the floor trying to get the stimulus package passed. It could end up being very costly to Burris because I do not see how his fellow Democratic Senators can trust him to do what is in the best interest of the party rather than his own reelection campaign. Obviously he will probably go along with whatever they ask him to do for the time being since Democrats need to take advantage of their majority control. Yet, when Burris comes up for reelection in 2010, the Democrats may want to get rid of him to avoid further damage to the party.
