Wait, scientists were wrong? But...but...there was a conensus!

"During the last 20 to 30 years, world temperature has fallen, irregularly at first but more sharply over the last decade. Judging from the record of the past interglacial ages, the present time of high temperatures should be drawing to an end…leading into the next ice age." - U.S. National Science Board, 1974.

Good thing we didn't immolate our economy and way of life for this consensus.

Scientists also once said that the sun revolved around the Earth. Obviously they were wrong so any future predictions scientists make about Sun-Earth relationships are clearly false.

Good thing we don't have to bet our industrial economy on solar orbit patterns.

Adding that when you're dealing with science that could literally determine the future of the planet, you had best get it right.
