The Saudi King Steps Towards Progress

The Saudi Government recently announced a few changes on February 14th when the government regularly review their operations. In doing so King Abdullah bin Abdel-Aziz al-Saud has replaced much of his advisory staff and senior advisors; but the most noticeable change the King has made is to appoint Noura bint Mohammed bin Musaid al-Fayez into the new government. Ms. Al-Fayez is the first woman within the Saudi government, a major step in liberalizing the country which still has a long road in gender equality. In addition to this landmark appointment the King has revamped most of his Cabinet positions such as education, health, and justice.
