Rules say new reactors must withstand plane strike
I was happy to see that the Nuclear Regulatory Commission decided to enact tougher rules for new nuclear plants being built. It is appropriate to force new nuclear plants to withstand the impact of a plane crash. Anti-terrorist experts have said that nuclear plants have become a target in order to do a large amount of damage to Americans. I remember on September 11, 2001, there was a big concern at my school and around the city that the nuclear power plant in Arizona would be targeted. We had to go home from school since we were within 40 miles of the plant and even though nothing happened, I still saw the threat emerge before my eyes. By taking proper precautions in the future, we can ensure safety of innocent citizens should terrorists try to attack.
