Assad: Syria wants better ties with US

The Syrian president has stated that he wants to reestablish a relationship with the U.S. I think the U.S. could stand to benefit from such a relationship if Syria is able to help calm down the Middle East tension. President Bush basically pulled away from Syria, but it might be time to try and find friends rather than enemies at this juncture in time.
