America's Emptiest Cities
Las Vegas and Detroit came in as being the most abandoned cities in America. I am not surprised by this revelation considering the big housing bust that has swept across the nation. Las Vegas has vastly overbuilt and expanded with a lack of tourist attraction to draw them in. Detroit has fallen victim to the failure of the auto industry. President Obama will head to Arizona this week to try and ease the concerns felt by those in Phoenix, another city hit hard by the housing burnout. I will be interested to see if he starts sharing what his plan will be to prevent further foreclosures and to keep families in their homes. The $50 billion that Geithner is talking about is clearly not even close to enough for what troubles the nation and so Obama has his work cut out for him.
